Restaurants and bars in the Flower Strip
De Fruitloods
Landgoed De Olmenhorst (Olmenhorst Estate) is a green oasis of apple and pear orchards found in the pretty village of Lisserbroek. This historic estate is over 160 years old and specialises in organic products. Stroll through its lush orchard, adopt your own apple tree or participate in a scavenger hunt before stopping by for homemade cakes or high tea on the terrace of De Fruitloods, the on-site restaurant. You can also pick up picnic or BBQ packages to enjoy in the orchard.
Papa’s Beach House
Escape the crowds at Papa’s Beach House, a hidden gem in the heart of the Haarlemmermeerse forest. Tuck into speciality beers, warm mains and substantial snack platters on Papa’s lakeside terrace, tell stories by the campfire or rent a paddleboard from the adjacent SUP Club. The focus on seafood on the menu here will make you feel like you're on a seaside holiday.
Brasserie Fort 5
Situated in the old Fort at Vijfhuizen, this brasserie and event space is part of The Defence Line of Amsterdam, a line of fortifications which once protected the city. Surrounded by history and exceptional natural views, Fort 5 is an excellent lunch spot (open Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00), all within the thick walls of a military monument. Choose from a delicious range of sandwiches, fresh salads or hot dishes with terrace views that look out over the fort moat on one side.
On The Rock
This restaurant, business venue and wedding location is on the rocky banks of the Westeinderplassen in Aalsmeer—a beautiful location to which the restaurant owes its name. On The Rock's view and sunset are spectacular every season and especially lovely from the large waterfront terrace.
Oevers
Located on the picturesque banks of the Westeinderplassen in Kudelstaart, this charming restaurant offers fantastic views of the lake. Brasserie Café Oevers is the perfect place for a business lunch, romantic dinner, or a lively evening out. With more than 80 seats, the expansive terrace is a popular spot when the sun shines.
De Engel
Eating out in Lisse or looking for the perfect stop during a flower tour? Swing by for a quick lunch or a refined dinner at Restaurant De Engel. You'll find something for everyone on the extensive seasonal menus, ranging from salads and paninis for lunch to steaks, pasta and veggie burgers for dinner. And if you fancy an overnight stay, that's also possible in one of De Engel's 11 modern hotel rooms.
Villa Flora
Hotel Villa Flora is located in the heart of the flower region, close to the beach and in the middle of the beautiful flower fields in the picturesque village of Hillegom. Settle down at a table in the cosy restaurant to tuck into a choice of dishes from the extensive à la carte lunch or dinner menus. Don't miss the delicious burgers from the charcoal oven paired with an exquisitely mixed cocktail. Have breakfast here, and bring the kids, as the café has a corner with toys and books and a kids' menu.
Barraca
At the edge of Haarlemmermeerse Bos, you'll find a little piece of Brazil. Barraca in Hoofddorp is an authentic churrascaria (a Portuguese-style BBQ restaurant) where Passadores come by your table and cut fine pieces of meat from the skewers for you on request. Place the red or green coin on the table to indicate that you are hungry for more or want to take a break. The restaurant serves vegetarian and vegan options as well, but it is the carnivores who will feel at home here.
Restaurant De Vier Seizoenen
As the restaurant’s name, De Vier Seizoenen (The Four Seasons), suggests, it’s all about seasonal produce at Ton & Ellin Frerik’s cosy restaurant in Lisse. The menu (and wine list) changes four times a year, showcasing French dishes with Oriental influences (think bavette steak with bok choi or stuffed aubergine with soffrito and ricotta paired with sweet and sour carrots) alongside more traditional Dutch fare. You'll also find daily-changing chef's specials where quality ingredients are central.
