The Next Web Conference 2024: here are the 12 startups you have to know

On June 20 & 21 it is time for the biggest tech conference in The Netherlands, The Next Web. With The Next Web being a small startup years ago, with the first conference in 2006 growing into a technology news website since 2009, the conference has a special place for startups, scaleups and investors on the program. This year, the City of Amsterdam has selected 12 startups to join/share the exhibition floor and pitch on the mini-stage in the Amsterdam Pavilion.

Keep these 12 impact-driven startups on your radar

This year’s theme is The Next Web is Now. We have translated that into making an impact as soon as possible with maximum results, in the short and long term. Because we need it today, not tomorrow.

All of the startups have one major thing in common: they are ready to make an impact either in the environmental, urban or social environment. You can find six different startups each day in booth 5, introducing themselves to the mixed audience of local visitors and  international speakers. 

A brief introduction to get familiar with them:

Caeli is fighting the two big challenges: air pollution and climate change. Based on own satellite data and AI.

Coolset helps growing companies measure and improve on sustainability in weeks. Discover the leading software to streamline reporting and accelerate CSRD compliance with your team.

FIGO is a flexible business (shared) mobility solution, on the move every day to improve the world of mobility. With instant access to the best mobility, managing mobility invoices and automated onboarding, FIGO arranges easy and flexible business transport.

Madglove is a pioneering medical aid start-up revolutionizing neurorehabilitation with a glove that empowers hand disability recovery. 

Mithra is a best-of-breed Cognitive Spend Intelligence SaaS platform for strategic procurement. Our mission is to help procurement teams to shine by taking over tedious and time-consuming (low value, high volume) activities and letting them focus on high-impact decision-making and value realization for their organization.

The Social Handshake is a fintech startup that makes doing good easy for companies and individuals. Many people and companies want to contribute more to a sustainable and just world. This is an opportunity. That's why they provide a secondary benefit: Payroll Giving/ LoonGift in the Netherlands.

Wastebase aims to increase the findability of residual streams from the manufacturing industry, to repurpose them and contribute to a circular economy. Considering the importance of limiting our material usage and waste production to reach the sustainable development goals for 2030 and 2050, an important link is missing. 

Pitch Hour on Thursday 20 and Friday 21st June

Every conference day from 14.00 - 15.00 it is Pitch Hour, it takes place on the mini-stage at the Amsterdam Pavilion, booth 5. The six startups in attendance pitch themselves to the audience, presenting their innovative products and services. They are all in different stages of development, some started a couple of years ago, some more recent, others raised funding already. The selection represents a great diversity in founding teams, 5 startups have a female founder or co-founder and the startups represent 7 different sectors.
