De Wester
Surrounded by Westerpark, the monumental De Wester, the former Transformatorhuis, stands in the middle of a vibrant centre for art, culture and entrepreneurship. This impressive industrial space, nearly 10 metres high, features a distinctive wooden roof structure and high windows that flood the room with natural daylight. For a more intimate setting, these windows can easily be covered with wooden shutters.
This event venue offers endless possibilities: An intimate round-table dinner, a large-scale brand activation, a catwalk fashion show, an inspiring exhibition and presentation or a dazzling party for up to 770 guests. In addition, it is possible to rent all the rooms of the adjacent Westweelde, creating a total space of 1530 m². Ideal for events of up to 1,900 visitors. Combined with the Gashouder, (under construction until 2026) De Wester can also be used as a breakout room.
Gashouder
When you think of Westergas, you think of the Gashouder. Anyone who has ever attended an event in this stone colossus will never forget it. The round, industrial interior with its imposing roof exudes a grandeur that you won’t experience anywhere else in the city. With a surface area of 2500 m2 and a height of 14.5 metres, it is one of the most impressive locations in Amsterdam. The Gashouder is the perfect location for special exhibitions, major presentations, parties and live shows.
Sustainability
Westergas B.V. is B Corp certified. This is an expression of our commitment to having a positive impact on the city, the neighbourhood, our employees and the environment. For example, we work with mainly local and sustainable partners for catering, cleaning, audiovisual and waste management services.
The Gashouder is a shining example of how we achieve our ambitions in practice. In 2022, the Gashouder switched from gas to solar panels. Over 1200 solar panels have been installed, which generate most of its own energy and that of the neighbourhood. Along with energy conservation, we are also committed to reducing CO₂ emissions. Every year, we make a calculation of our building and mobility emissions. We purchase 100% green electricity, which means our CO₂ emissions are relatively low. A concrete implementation plan is in place for the coming years to make the listed buildings, events and organisation even more sustainable.
Accessibility
With great partners and programming, we make art and culture accessible to local and international guests. Together, we want to take better care of people, the city and nature. Our Westergas Foundation represents this commitment. Westergas and partners make annual donations to the Foundation to finance arts and culture initiatives for the neighbourhood, talent development and making its programming more accessible.
