Family and kids in Amstelveen

Amstelveen offers a wealth of entertainment for a family day out, with many options concentrated within the massive Amsterdamse Bos. From rope-climbing parks to kid playgrounds, farms and pools, you can find everything you need.

Ridammerhoeve Goat Farm

Right in the heart of the Amsterdamse Bos, Ridammerhoeve is an organic goat farm which produces a range of dairy products - all for sale at the café and farm shop. Enjoy a goat’s milk hot chocolate or an organic sandwich with goat cheese on the terrace. Younger guests will find lots to entertain themselves amongst the animals, with opportunities to feed and pet the baby goats, depending on the time of year. The farm also organises various activities, including cheese-making workshops, high teas and birthday parties.

Boerderij Meerzicht

This farm and pancake house in the Amsterdamse Bos is the perfect refuelling stop for the whole family. With a big terrace, views over the fields, and rustic, wooden-beamed interiors, it’s filled with charm. Spend quality time feeding the deer or relaxing while the little ones scale the play area.

Groot Kinderbad Amsterdamse Bos

Smack dab in the middle of the Amsterdamse Bos, you will find the play pools filled with water from May to September from 10:00 to 19:00 as long as the weather is dry and the temperature is above 20 degrees. During September, the pools are only open on the weekends if these conditions are met. With a nearby kiosk for supplies and available amenities, this area provides a safe and comfortable space for toddlers up to four years old to explore and play. Klimbos Fun Forest

Looking for a unique experience amongst the treetops? The Klimbos Fun Forest high-rope adventure park offers visitors the chance to move through the Amsterdam Forest on ropes, ladders, bridges, zip lines, and other climbing elements. Enjoy an adventure with your friends, family or colleagues and feel connected by nature.

Speelboerderij Elsenhove

On the other side of Amstelveen, close to the Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, this play farm is an absolute haven for children who can play with rabbits, pigs, goats, hens, sheep, and much more. Kids can also join in the many activities planned on the farm, such as baking bread or activities tied to the holidays. You will find the tea house ‘In den Pappot’ next to the farm, where kids can enjoy an ice cream made with locally sourced ingredients.

Atelier CoBrA

The Museum Cobra holds a unique museum atelier for kids every Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00 and Wednesday from 13:00 to 16:00. The little visitors can follow their imagination and practice techniques inspired by the Cobra artists. The drawings can be taken home or pinned to the collective collage wall.

Pluktuin Amstelveen

Explore the picking garden of Amstelveen where everyone can get their share of flowers, join a creative workshop or host a party. For 12.50 you can pick 20 stems that vary through the seasons: tulips and peonies in spring; marigolds and sunflowers in the summer; dahlias and gladioli in the autumn. There is certainly enough here for a beautiful bouquet.Kids can also join workshops such as making a mirror mosaic, porcelain painting and even robot carpentry.

Fun Center Amstelveen

Get your dose of family entertainment in the heart of Amstelveen. With lots of fun activities and spaces, such as the trampoline park, laser game arena, arcades and karaoke party room, Fun Center is an excellent choice for a day of indoor fun when the weather just isn’t cooperating.

Amstelveens Poppentheater (Puppet Theatre)

Swap the television and tablets for some classic puppet theatre at the Amstelveen Puppet Theatre, whose goal is to bring visual theatre to various audiences through performances and workshops. Intended for children ages 2 to 12, the agenda includes interactive and educational performances and workshops that are a treat for the little ones and a real pleasure for the grown-ups.
