Café ’t Mandje (established in 1927) was the first genuine gay pub of Amsterdam.
The proprietor of the pub was the self-willed Bet van Beeren, the uncrowned
queen of the street. After being closed for 25 years, ’t Mandje was reopened in
2008. The entire interior has been restored and returned to its original state.
Including the neckties suspended from the ceiling beams, pictures on the wall,
jukebox and billiards table. Drink a beer in this living piece of history.
