This years theme is Water

The theme of the Grachtenfestival this year is Water . Water not only flows through the canals, but connects all parts of the city. In addition to performances of 'Water Music' , for example, water plays an important role in the locations. For example, you can enjoy concerts with a setting sun above the IJ, explore the harbors during a neighborhood concert or get to know young talents on the quay.

Amsterdam 750 years and 750 performances by Young Talent

In the context of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary, the Grachtenfestival will offer a stage to young talent 750 times during this edition. This year, it will be grand, with performances by promising musicians in various formations: in duos, as part of the new Grachtenfestival Ensemble or in Big Bands.

Various locations

The music festival attracts so many visitors every year. There are always many young, talented musicians on the program, for whom the Grachtenfestival means the next step in their career. The approximately two hundred concerts take place in countless places in the city: in churches, parks, gardens, living rooms, concert halls and of course the Amsterdam canals.

About 100 locations will be the setting for various concerts - from classical music to jazz to music from other cultures. Past, present and future come together in contemporary combinations of musicians, genres and locations.
