Parking violations
Receiving a parking fine
If you have paid an insufficient amount for parking (or haven't paid at all), Parking Services Amsterdam will leave a sticker on your vehicle informing you of the fine. Incorrectly parked cars that form an obstacle to other traffic will be towed by the City Street Patrol (Afdeling Handhaving en Toezicht).
A wheel clamp will be put on your car if you have too many unpaid parking tickets (2-5 tickets depending on your country's agreement with the Netherlands). The clamp will only be removed when all outstanding fines have been paid in full, plus the fee for the wheel clamp (€ 192). The fines must be paid within 24 hours, or the vehicle will be towed away. If a wheel clamp is put on your car, contact the City of Amsterdam by calling: 020 251 3787 between 9:00 and 21:00. Find more information about parking violations (in Dutch).
Collecting your towed car
If your car has been towed, you can collect it from the depot located at Daniël Goedkoopstraat 9. You can expect to pay €373 if you reclaim your car within one day and an extra €30 for each additional day that your car remains unclaimed. The towed car lot is open 24 hours a day. You must show a valid form of identification. Please note that you can only pay using an accepted credit or debit card; cash payments are not accepted.
