Castle and estate Groeneveld

Groeneveld Castle in Baarn is an 18th century country estate and one of the most beautiful examples of a country house from that time. In the 17th century, merchants and regents visited country estates to distance themselves from the city. This was the place where people enjoyed the good life, peace, space, fresh air, nature, culture, good food and good conversations.

The gardens and routes

In the late 18th and early 19th century, the park was transformed into the English landscape style. This style is recognizable by the water features, streams, winding paths, hills, groups of trees and solitary trees. Between 1976 and 1981, the park was extensively restored.

The combination of the French and English style gardens of Groeneveld Castle means that this route takes you past all the sights of the estate. If you want to know what to do, check the website for all the information. You pay an entrance fee to visit the castle, but the park, garden and shop are free to visit.
