Grote of Sint Nicolaas Kerk

History

At the end of the fourteenth century, the rapidly growing Monnickendam decided to build a new church. A location on the edge of the city was chosen to protect the building from city fires. Construction took 250 years. After the Reformation, the church was furnished as a Reformed church. In earlier years, those who could afford it were buried in the church.

The large church is regularly rented out. The space is very suitable for exhibitions, concerts, receptions, conferences, and of course weddings and funerals.
