Mahler Academy Orchestra - Symphony No. 5
Authentic Symphony No. 5
What did Mahler's Fifth Symphony sound like at the beginning of the last century? With the Originalklang Project, the Mahler Academy Orchestra, affiliated with the Gustav Mahler Academy Bolzano-Bozen, sheds new light on performance practice in Mahler's time. Under the leadership of Philipp von Steinaecker, musicians from top European ensembles united. In Toblach, where Mahler composed his last works, they mastered playing on original Viennese instruments from around 1900. During concerts the orchestra plays on instruments built based on the instruments that Mahler purchased when he was conductor of the Viennese Philharmonic. You will hear how that works out during this concert.
Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3
