Opening Stedelijk Museum Sculpture Hall - A Free Day Out

At 12.00 pm, Deputy Mayor Touria Meliani will unveil the Sculpture Hall—and you could join too! Visitors who receive a golden ticket in the museum will be invited to help reveal the sculptures. This will be followed by an electrifying performance by none other than Amsterdam rapper and musician Sef! The whole day you can enjoy fun workshops and follow tours through the Sculpture Hall and around the museum building. You can also browse the book sale in the library. The Beloved Sculpture Garden Returns

Until the turn of the century, the Stedelijk’s former sculpture garden was a beloved and popular spot in Amsterdam. The very same location is now the indoor entrance hall of the Stedelijk. There, the new Sculpture Hall, that comes to life thanks to the generous support of the Don Quixote Foundation, features work of renowned artists like Alexander Calder, Henry Moore, Niki de Saint Phalle and Damien Hirst, as well as exciting new acquisitions. The Sculpture Hall is open to everyone during the day (even without a museum ticket) and is beautifully lit in the evening, visible through the glass facade.
