Celebrate the messy, magical, creative energy of the Staatsliedenbuurt, a squatter stronghold in the 80s, where an alternative sense of community persists today despite encroaching gentrification.

This free event, produced by Kissing the Muse Creative Adventures in partnership with the Buurtwerkplaatsen Foundation and the local community, marks the launch of The Messy Magical Muse creative-insight sparking card set and serves as a fundraiser and open house for the neighbourhood workshops.

Buurtwerkplaatsen, founded in 1985, originated from the ideals of the squatters' movement and is still firmly rooted in the founding vision: to be a place where everyone can learn and practice crafts.

A day full of art, community and creativity

• Discover works by local and neighbourhood artists at a pop-up art market/exhibition (10% of the proceeds go to the foundation);
• Take part in an interactive creative adventure/scavenger hunt (with prizes!);
• Be inspired by live workshop demonstrations from 14:00 to 16:00 (painting/mixed media, ceramics, glass and glass fusing, jewellery, screen printing, woodworking and metalworking);
• Enjoy delicious snacks and drinks prepared by neighbours and friends (for purchase);
