Nieuw Dakota
Nieuw Dakota is an exhibition space for contemporary art at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam. Their experimental program includes exhibitions, performances, tours and educational activities, with the goal of challenging both artists and visitors to broaden their perception of the world.
Exhibitions with different themes
Since the beginning of 2023, Nieuw Dakota has introduced a new artistic program called 1 x 2. Within this concept, one theme is exhibited in two different and almost opposite ways. The current theme is 'give and take', with the exhibition (+ Supplementary Fee) currently highlighting the aspect of giving.
This solo exhibition by Thordur Hans Baldursson offers a critical look at the challenges that artists and cultural institutions face at a time when art subsidies are increasingly under pressure.
As the commercialization of the arts seems inevitable for its survival, visitors are asked to pay additional fees to view the works of art.
