Dutch and Flemish masters

The Mauritshuis in The Hague is home to the best Dutch painting from the time of Rembrandt and Vermeer.

More than two hundred masterpieces by Dutch and Flemish masters have a permanent place in the intimate rooms of the former home of Johan Maurits, Count of Nassau-Siegen. Households by Jan Steen, landscapes by Van Ruisdael, flower still lifes and portraits by Rubens and Frans Hals provide a rich and varied picture of seventeenth-century painting.

In addition to the permanent collection, the Mauritshuis organizes special, temporary exhibitions in the exhibition hall in the Royal Dutch Shell Wing. The museum is developing a diverse program for visitors to immerse themselves in the paintings: from a free multimedia tour to guided tours, from lectures to workshops. Visitors are welcome in the Brasserie for a cup of coffee and can shop in the Museum Shop.

Gallery Prince Willem V

Tickets for the Mauritshuis also include access to Prince William V Gallery. Prince William V Gallery is The Hague's hidden gem. It is the first publicly accessible art collection in the Netherlands. Prince William V of Orange-Nassau had the hall built in 1774 to display his impressive collection of paintings. The walls are packed, so that the richness of his collection is clearly visible.
