Dancing Dutch

Dancing Dutch brings together four choreographers who, despite their different origins, are all rooted in our country and celebrated their first major successes here. For the first time, the National Ballet will dance, a creation by Jiří Kylián, the choreographer who has given Dutch Dance Theater international success for more than 30 years. In addition, this program includes a masterpiece by the Netherlands' most famous choreographer, Hans van Manen, and premiere ballets by Associate Artist David Dawson and Young Creative Associate Milena Sidorova.

The National Ballet premiere of Wings of Wax fulfils the dream of many National Ballet dancers: to finally dance a work by Jiří Kylián, one of the greatest choreographers of our time. Inspired by the effect of gravity and the famous myth of Icarus, Kylián conjures up movement in this ballet: she is never predictable, never looks forced, and yet the eye can hardly follow what is happening.
