In the documentary Ik Besta Niet , Nawa Sira van Sluijs brings to light the painful reality of undocumented and stateless youth in the Netherlands. The documentary follows the lives of Bubacar (24) and Viktoria (27), who have both been living in the Netherlands without a residence permit since their teenage years. Their personal stories show what the daily struggle of people who are not recognized by the Dutch system looks like. Despite these oppressive circumstances, they still try to build a full life.

How can people be stateless?

What are the consequences of the current political climate for undocumented and stateless people in the Netherlands? During this evening, you will watch the documentary together and there will be a conversation with Nawa Sira (director), Viktoria and Bubacar. People who have expertise in and are committed to the rights of undocumented and stateless people will also have their say. This will bring to light stories that show the people behind the numbers. An evening about how vulnerable it is when someone decides about your life. This program is partly in Dutch and partly in English.
