Fringe: Baseline Babbling - Kirsty Baker

A one-woman tea party full of songs, an attempt at dancing and too much talking - and you're all cordially invited. Talking and singing incessantly into her microphone, Kirsty Baker celebrates the joy and importance of coming together, in the here and now, in the same room, with all the uncertainties that arise when we get so close to each other. Spontaneity, sincerity, a little chaos, a huge amount of joy and a good cup of tea guide Kirsty Baker and the audience through 'Baseline Babbling', as they feel how fundamentally they need each other and how good it can feel to be unapologetically yourself.

About Kirsty Baker

Kirsty Baker was born and raised in France into an 'oh so' British family of poets and musicians. Her path into theatre and music began as a child when she was thrown into her parents' musical shows and later asked if she could please play the violin. In her teens, she experimented with collective theatre making, learning folk melodies in Romania and participating in butô workshops and world music bands.

As a young adult, she immersed herself in contemporary dance and joined a location theatre collective in Bordeaux (FR). All this led her to the Mime Academy in Amsterdam (NL) from which she graduated in 2023. With this lifelong experience in the performing arts, she is now developing her own style as a solo artist. She also works for various theatre and mime companies in the Netherlands.

About Amsterdam Fringe Festival Amsterdam

Every year in September, the Fringe Festival presents a mix of theatre, performance, and dance by new, emerging, and untamed talent for 11 days. They present a multidisciplinary programme of over 55 artists with diverse backgrounds, origins, and futures. The entire city is their playground; from rooftop to club to theatre, from North to South, you will see them for 11 days at around 24 locations spread across Amsterdam.
