HERMESensemble + Music Theatre Transparant: Inner Life
The last work by composer Wim Henderickx (1962-2022) is a composition and a recipe for musical experiment in one. When Henderickx suddenly died in 2022, he was still working on it. The score is partly written out very precisely and partly open, with graphically notated fragments. The whole forms a musical laboratory that must always be given a different life. In this performance by HERMESensemble, Nemø Ensemble and conservatory students, the audience follows a route through the Muziekgebouw along the different chapters of Inner Life.

An artistic happening throughout the building
An omnivorous interest in folk culture, electronics and the classical Western music tradition characterizes Wim Henderickx. This is clearly audible in Inner Life , which covers 7 chapters. The duration of each chapter is a multiple of 7 minutes and is intended for a basic line-up of 7 players. Some passages are open to additional performance layers and give the performers creative freedom. The result is an exciting and fascinating happening that you experience while wandering through the Muziekgebouw.
