On the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the death of Francesco Petrarca, the Embassy of Italy in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Italian Cultural Institute of Amsterdam present an event for lovers of Italian literature and culture, dedicated to the lasting influence of the great Italian poet:

The evening’s programme includes:

• Introductory remarks by Giorgio Novello, Ambassador of Italy to the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
• A presentation on ���Petrarch: the European Poet” delivered by Gandolfo Cascio, Assistant Professor of Italian Literature and Translation Studies at Utrecht University
• A presentation by Dr. Chris Tazelaar regarding his work on translating Petrarch’s works.

Gandolfo Cascio is an Assistant Professor of Italian Literature at Utrecht University, where he also leads the research project “Observatory on Dante Studies.” His latest publications include Michelangelo on Parnassus. The Reception of the Poems Among Writers (Brill 2022; Italian edition Marsilio 2019), Le ore del meriggio. Saggi critici (Il Convivio 2020; G.A. Borgese Prize), and Dolci detti.
