Tarek Atoui: Forgotten Tales Through Time
Hartwig Art Foundation presents a one-time concert by artist and composer Tarek Atoui, featuring musicians from the Moroccan Atlas region. Originating from the Amazigh (Berber) community, these musicians will transform the space into a poetic gathering inspired by the majlis—the traditional meeting place in Arab and North African homes where guests and travellers are welcomed, offering refuge and coexistence.

Research project The Sahara Chapter
This concert marks the launch of Atoui’s long-term research project The Sahara Chapter for Hartwig Art Foundation. Over the next 3 years, he will expand the geographical scope of his research into diasporic music traditions, forging connections between musical cultures and bringing together musicians, musical formats, and both traditional and invented instruments. Spanning North to South and East to West, the project will cultivate rich cultural exchanges in Amsterdam.
Tarek Atoui’s concert Forgotten Tales Through Time in Amsterdam is a continuation of a series of concerts resulting from a new research project commissioned and produced by TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary.
The Amsterdam concert marks the launch of The Sahara Chapter, a new three-year research project by Tarek Atoui, commissioned by Hartwig Art Foundation.
