But whatever happens, music sounds is the chorus of Wintertenen, luizen en eczema, de typhus en de kanker en de flu by Ischa Meijer, Olga's favorite song. It became the title of this program by actress Olga Zuiderhoek about music from her 20th century. She wanted Gerard Bouwhuis for the music, which is what it's all about: Bartók, Antheil, Andriessen, Breuker, Gershwin, Johnny & Jones and of course Stravinsky. They let the dead play along: Gerard plays with Breuker, Olga sings with Ischa.

Oorkaan + Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest - Dauw (4+)

Only early birds know it, but the hour before sunrise is one of the most magical moments of the day. The moon has just left, the sun has not yet risen. The only thing you hear is an orchestra of crickets. During the special, theatrical family concert Dauw, musicians from the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and youth music group Oorkaan play music from all over the world inspired by this magical hour.

A Song for the Moon

“A wonderful production for young and old alike”, wrote the Dutch newspaper NRC after the premiere of A Song for the Moon. Theaterkrant magazine concluded that the production “deserves to become a regular part of the repertoire”. We took those words to heart: following the overwhelming success of this heart-warming family opera, we will be bringing it back to Studio Boekman for the Christmas holidays. Please note, that this opera is sung in the Dutch language.

Canti Vaganti - Piccolino in the city (2+)

Please note: this event is sold out. Living in a big city like Amsterdam can be very busy and overwhelming at times. Imagine what that must be like for a little caterpillar! In this musical for the littlest ones, we follow the story of caterpillar Piccolino, who lives in an apple and ends up in the city. He becomes friends with the friendly cockroach Lola and together they experience all kinds of adventures.

The Doctor

The Doctor was selected for the Dutch Theatre Festival 2022 as one of the best 12 performances of the previous season. Actresses Janni Goslinga and Ilke Paddenburg were nominated for the Theo d'or and Colombina respectively. ﻿ Please note: the performance contains stroboscopic effects. The performances on Thursday 9 and 16 January have English subtitles. The performances on Friday 10 and 17 January will be followed by a post-performance discussion.
