National Opera - The Shell Trial

In 2021, oil giant Shell was held legally responsible for its role in climate change. In The Shell Trial, the various voices in the climate debate come to the fore, and it becomes increasingly clear that we cannot make progress with endless finger-pointing. This topical opera, at the Dutch National Opera & Ballet, shows that the climate crisis is, above all, a crisis of responsibility.

Nicole Louise Lewis, Laura Dawn Pyatt, Erin Caldwell e.o. - Six

In the worldwide hit musical 'Six', the six ex-wives of British King Henry VIII take the microphone and – finally – tell their story. Using songs inspired by pop icons such as Beyoncé, Adele and Ariana Grande, each queen tries to prove that she had it the hardest with 'the most notorious ex of the past millennium'. The show, a theatre experience for young and old, can be seen in the Royal Theatre Carré.

In music, nothing is more important than the tempo. The beat determines how you experience time. And time seems to be never-ending when you are young and feeling bored. But time disappears like snow in the sun when you are pulled into a special experience. As in Tempo, a performance for a young audience. The members of Oorkaan Ensemble play with your sense of time like true magicians.

Open Your Ears met Lucie Horsch (8+) Presentatie: Dieuwertje Blok

Lucie has been in love with the recorder and baroque music all her life. When she started playing the recorder, everyone thought she would switch to another instrument after a few years. But she couldn’t get enough of it. However, she has been combining playing the recorder with playing the piano and singing for several years now - she will do both in this concert in the Muziekgebouw. Still, the recorder remains her first love. Note: the presentation will be in Dutch.

Rachmaninov Vespers Cappella Amsterdam

In this new edition of Music for Empty Spaces in the Muziekgebouw, Pinkham asks nine colleagues from diverse backgrounds to reflect on dying, death and mourning. Music, as the language of the unspeakable, can help us talk about the inevitable end that is part and parcel of life.

Motets - Dutch Bach Society

Bach's six motets are among recent centuries' most beautiful choral music. The Dutch Bach Society, led by baroque specialist Václav Luks, sings 3 of these vocal pearls in this program on the eve of Remembrance Day and Liberation Day. In addition, there is moving passion music by Luks' compatriot Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679-1745), also known as the 'Czech Bach'.

Tegenwind (7+) De Stilte + Artvark Saxophone Quartet

Few things are as annoying as cycling home against a headwind. Leaves blow in your face, the cold comes through your raincoat – you're barely making any progress. Until you're suddenly home! In the dance performance, Tegenwind, the four saxophone players of Artvark and the dance company De Stilte happily blow into the wind. This performance can be seen in 't Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.
