MidWest serves as a coworking space, neighbourhood canteen and city garden in a former school building.
The former school gym is now the place for delicious cappuccinos and good conversation in a beautiful Amsterdam School-style building. Creatives and social entrepreneurs rent out the old classrooms, and in the gardens, which feature a compost station and plastic recycling workshop, volunteers take care of wadis, willows and fruit trees. Almost every Friday, a neighbour cooks at MidWest: the perfect opportunity to mingle with De Baarsjes locals at the long table.
