Molen de Adriaan
1/2
No visit to Haarlem is complete without calling by for a guided tour of the Molen de Adriaan, a windmill close to the town centre. Set in a picturesque location alongside the Spaarne River, this tower mill has been one of the most striking features of the Haarlem skyline for centuries.
Dominating Haarlem’s skyline
The windmill was ravaged by fire in 1932 and it wasn’t until 2002 that this unique monument was restored to its former glory, once again taking its place as a distinctive feature on the Haarlem cityscape. The windmill is now home to a small museum offering guided tours, using models and visual installations to give visitors the low-down on the history of Molen de Adriaan and other Dutch windmills. The decked area outside the windmill offers fantastic views over the city.
