GASSAN Diamonds

GASSAN has played a pivotal role in Amsterdam’s diamond history. At GASSAN Diamonds visitors can view the diamond polishers at their craft, while multilingual guides explain how to turn rough diamonds into dazzling brilliants.

GASSAN’s rich history

Amsterdam has been famous for its diamonds since the sixteenth century. Because of the 400 years of expertise and craftsmanship, it is no surprise - that Amsterdam is still seen as the trading centre of the diamond industry worldwide. The popular brilliant-cut with 57 facets was also developed in Amsterdam, which is why it is also known as the “Amsterdam-cut”.

GASSAN has played a pivotal role in Amsterdam’s diamond history. It was established by Samuel Gassan in 1945, just after the Second World War, as a business specialising in the import and export of raw and cut diamonds. Today GASSAN Diamonds is located in a beautifully restored diamond factory built in 1879. Here, visitors can view the diamond polishers at their craft, while multilingual guides explain how to turn rough diamonds into dazzling brilliants.

The perfect brilliant cut

For generations, the diamond cutters at GASSAN Diamonds in Amsterdam have been working to perfect the brilliant-cut. With the GASSAN 121 diamond, they have finally succeeded. The breathtaking GASSAN 121 is a cut with a total of 121 facets that produces an unrivaled, perfectly shimmering diamond.
