The Women's March: the street belongs to everyone!
The Women's March draws attention to the safety of women on the streets. Many girls and women feel unsafe in the streets of Nieuw-West. Something needs to be done about that. Because the street belongs to everyone. Will you join us? The Women's March starts at Plein '40-'45, next to Carillion, and ends at Osdorpplein.
The Women's March: the street belongs to everyone!
Unsafe on the street
Many women, girls and people from the LHBTIQ community do not feel safe online or on the streets of Nieuw-West. Research shows that every woman has had at least one bad experience or encountered street harassment. The city district has been investing extra in emancipation organisations for years and continues to call for more supervision and enforcement. But it is not enough. The commitment of the residents themselves is also needed.
Women and girls demand different behavior from men, because the street belongs to everyone. That is why the city district organises a Women's March in collaboration with several organizations from Nieuw-West. A march that shows all Amsterdammers what is not going well, what needs to be improved and that solidarity from men was, is and remains urgent.
For whom?
Everyone is welcome. The Women's March is for all residents of Amsterdam, regardless of gender, age, religion, cultural identity or sexual orientation. All Houses of the Neighborhood and youth work organizations are also cordially invited to participate.
The Women's March is made possible in part by girls' organizations and emancipation organizations from Nieuw-West.
