The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

With The Hanging Gardens of Babylon , Ciconia Consort takes us on a musically poetic journey in the footsteps of Alexander the Great and Marco Polo. For centuries, the Silk Road was the most important connection between East and West. A route that was of great significance for the exchange of views, ideas and cultures. The musical journey begins in Venice with the gallant and virtuoso Concerto per archi by film composer Nino Rota and makes the crossing to Constantinople with the Gondol Şarkısı by Sultan Abdülaziz. The internationally acclaimed violinist Maria Milstein shines in the grand Violin Concerto by Arutiunian and in the caravanserai of Baku we listen to Fikret Amirov's mighty Symphony for string orchestra, dedicated to the great twelfth-century Persian poet Nizami. The Silk Road ends in Beijing with the pure Chinese sounds of the Song of the Ch'in .
