The musical journey begins in Venice with the gallant and virtuoso Concerto per archi by film composer Nino Rota and makes the crossing to Constantinople with the Gondol Şarkısı by Sultan Abdülaziz. The internationally acclaimed violinist Maria Milstein shines in the grand Violin Concerto by Arutiunian and in the caravanserai of Baku we listen to Fikret Amirov's mighty Symphony for string orchestra, dedicated to the great twelfth-century Persian poet Nizami. The Silk Road ends in Beijing with the pure Chinese sounds of the Song of the Ch'in .
