Oriental Four Seasons

A musical performance with oriental ink paintings. During the performance you will hear arrangements of Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons' as well as new compositions and arrangements inspired by oriental folk songs and poetry. Synchronized with the music, you will see in the film how the artist draws the ink paintings with her brush stroke behind the screen. Location: PC Hooftzaal, De Roos, Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat 183, Amsterdam.

Christmas Classics at the Movies

Christmas Classics at the Movies in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam is unfortunately sold out. The Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, conducted by Sander Teepen, will perform the most beautiful music from Christmas films and winter classics. Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker' will of course be there, as will Irving Berlin's 'White Christmas'. Silvestri's 'Polar Express' will race by and things will get exciting for a moment with Elfman's 'The Nightmare before Christma's'. And of course there will be music by the film composer: John Williams. His fairytale music for Harry Potter will conclude this concert.

During this Saturday Matinee, the Netherlands Chamber Choir will perform music for the Christmas season, including the first performance in the Netherlands of David Lang’s poor hymnal. This concert takes place at the Main Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw.

Dutch Jazz Competition

The Dutch Jazz Competition has been the national platform for emerging or breakthrough jazz talent for 15 years. In total, 124 bands have registered for the Dutch Jazz Competition 2024. Of these, 4 bands will reach the finals and compete for the main and audience prize and again a prize for the best composition. Winners go home with cash prizes, playing places at relevant festivals and a network for international tours.

Green Lizard

The Dutch rock band Green Lizard was founded in 1994 by brothers Brian, Willy and Remi Tjon Ajong. One of the most famous records of Green Lizard was the debut album 'Identity', which was recorded in collaboration with producer Clif Norrell (Jeff Buckley, Weezer, Faith No More and REM), of which the tracks 'Autumn' and 'Turn Around' were the best known. The successor 'Newborn' was also in collaboration with Norrel and even had Henry Rollins as a guest artist.

The entire Christmas story is shown. The musical tradition of the Renaissance is so rich that a masterpiece was composed for almost every event. Stile Antico takes a selection from the scores of composers such as Schütz, Praetorius, Byrd, Victoria and Lasso.
