Ensemble SCALA - Rewind-Forward

Ensemble SCALA was founded to present the widest possible range of new microtonal sounds. In addition to the Fokker organ, a microtonal guitar and the enigmatic Carrillo piano in mysteriously resonant 96-tone tuning are also part of the party.

A wonderful rainbow of sound and color

In Rewind-Forward, SCALA moves back and forth through very different repertoire. The concert opens uncompromisingly with elusively discolouring music on the Carrillo piano (Arnold Marinissen) to go on a 'note-bending sonic adventure' (Danny de Graan) via minimal music (Renske Vrolijk). The morning ends with three premieres of new pieces by Bill Alves, Jed Shura and Jago Thornton. What all music has in common: microscopic intervals.
