J.J.Cale Appreciation Society
JJ Cale
Because JJ Cale shunned showbiz and lived as a hermit on his ranch in California, he remained an illustrious figure to the general public. Nevertheless, classic albums such as Okie and Naturally can be found in most Dutch record cabinets.
When JJ Cale plays Appreciation Society, you realize how many of his songs you already knew subconsciously. Apart from hits like 'After Midnight', 'Cocaine', 'Call me the breeze' and 'Crazy mama', JJ Cale wrote a whole oeuvre of deceptively simple songs, which you have probably heard many times before: late at night visiting friends, with a pint in hand around the corner in the pub, or driving home at night on a local radio station.
Wonderfully groovy music, sung with delightful nonchalance, but always performed by the best musicians that America had to offer in the heyday of pop music (the late 60s and 70s).
