The Trautonium

The Trautonium is one of the first synthesizers, invented around 1929. You play it by means of a string. This gives you physical contact with the sound, which allows you to play this instrument in a uniquely expressive way. Almost 100 years after its invention, LudoWic is bringing this forgotten instrument back into the spotlight. He is one of the few in the world who owns and plays this instrument. When the Trautonium sounds, time freezes for the listener. In that still moment you feel the past, and hear the future. The instrument and the music sound nostalgic and unknown at the same time. The general public was first introduced to the Trautonium on LudoWic's album SUPER8 MEMORY . Tonight LudoWic presents his new album, in which the Trautonium once again plays a leading role. An album with even more layers and a cinematic character.

LudoWic

Artist and musician Thijs Lodewijk/LudoWic makes music and visual work. From a young age he has had a passion for both visual art and music. After his admission to the art academy and the conservatory, he eventually chose music. As an artist of experimental electronic music, he has several albums to his name in which he mainly uses old analogue equipment and synthesizers. Later in his career, Lodewijk started making visual work again in addition to music. Lodewijk has composed and produced for various projects and artists including Wende, Lakshmi and Sevdaliza. For Wende he was involved as co-producer and writer in the Edison award-winning album Mens . In 2023, Lodewijk had several exhibitions with his drawings, paintings and installations and he performed his music at the renowned November Music festival and ADE.
