Mao Fujita
'Lively and energetic', 'virtuoso' and 'dazzling skill that serves the music': these are some of the characteristics you come across in reviews of Mao Fujita. The Tokyo-born pianist first sat at the piano at the age of three. Now he is twenty-five years old and his CV reports interesting collaborations with big names worldwide. In the Kleine Zaal he is once again a guest for a recital. On the program Beethoven, Mozart and others.
Beethoven's Appassionata
Nicknames for famous pieces of music are rarely given by the composer himself. Beethoven's Opus 57 was christened Sonata Appassionata – Passionate Sonata – when it was published in a four-hand version in 1838. Before he went completely deaf, Beethoven was known as one of the greatest pianists of his time, and the greatest improviser of all. The Appassionata is a product of the same visionary creative period as the Eroica Symphony (named after Beethoven) and the Kreutzer Violin Sonata (dedicated to the famous violinist).
