In 2021, after winning the Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Liu made his breakthrough and in 2022 he signed with the prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon. Studying and giving concerts is one thing, the balance with other interests in life is at least as important. Bruce Liu can therefore also be found in the swimming pool. Tchaikovsky's The Seasons and Prokofiev's Sonata No. 7

In 1875, the St. Petersburg music magazine Nouvellist commissioned Tchaikovsky to write twelve short piano pieces, one for each month. The series appeared in serial form in 1876. He worked on The Seasons between composing the First Piano Concerto and Swan Lake when he was not traveling.

More than a century later, Prokofiev wrote his Seventh Piano Sonata , the second of his three war sonatas. Prokofiev had fled to the Caucasus to escape the approaching German armies. The horrors of war characterize this sonata. Struggle, fear and bitterness come together in the piece.
