Experiments with folk music
Using an arsenal of electronics, live effects and prepared instruments, the duo weaves together drone music, Middle Eastern/Mediterranean influences, wailing vocals and punky electric guitar and viola. The duo has been active in Amsterdam for 2 years, performing concerts around the city and exploring their connection to the music of their roots through their own musical and cultural language. For this performance, the duo would like to invite Cypriot folk singer Paris Paraschos as a special guest. Paris is one of the most active and prominent folk singers of the island with an open mind for experimentation and an extensive knowledge and specialization in folk music. She studied traditional music at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki.
