Intercontinental Ensemble

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, Singelkerk welcomes the Intercontinental Ensemble, a nine-member group consisting of four string players and five wind players. Founded in Amsterdam in 2012, this young, international ensemble brings together musicians from Mexico, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Their performances are known for their dynamic energy and musical versatility, where boundaries fade and cultures unite.

Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony in an intimate setting – more direct, more energetic, more thrilling.

This program offers a unique and intimate rendition of one of the most iconic compositions in music history: Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. Instead of a grand orchestra, nine passionate musicians will take you on an immersive and powerful journey, delivering every note with full dedication.

In addition, the ensemble will present the world premiere of their arrangement of César Franck’s Prélude, Fugue et Variation, specially performed for this occasion with organist Jeroen Koopman.
