Britpop explosion
Over the past 20 years, Starsailor has been compared to many artists, from Neil Young and Van Morrison to their Wigan compatriots, The Verve. Regardless of which pigeonhole you place the band in, it's clear that they emerged from the aftermath of the Britpop explosion. Starsailor has become a leading name in the early 2000s music landscape. One of the pioneers of the new wave of British guitar bands, alongside acts such as Coldplay and Travis, the band broke through with the debut album 'Love Is Here '. This album, with hits such as 'Fever', 'Alcoholic' and 'Good Souls', marked the beginning of their success story.
New work will be released in March 2024, entitled 'Where The Wild Things Grow', as a successor to 'All This Live' from 2017. The album also features additional guitar work by Rick McNamara and Andy Dunlop of Travis.
Support: The Man Up North
The support act is the rock band The Man Up North. The band from Leuven is known for their strong live shows with music ranging from indie rock to mild psychedelia. Last year, they released their long-awaited debut album, also called 'The Man Up North', and this year, they are touring with Starsailor, which will make a stop in the Melkweg, among others!
The Man Up North is supported by Liveurope, the first European initiative that supports concert halls in the promotion of emerging musical talent from Europe.
