Lynn Spoor about her work
Lynn Spoor invites you to explore the city’s hidden gems with her latest series of abstract paintings. Each canvas captures the beauty of Amsterdam, from serene natural spots to rugged corners. “I want to show the charm of the city where I live,” says Lynn Spoor. “For one of my works, inspired by the Rijkstuinen, I looked at the beauty of the flowers and created an abstract representation of this on canvas. To enhance this, I even mixed real flowers from the Rijkstuinen with the paint in the artwork.” In addition to the Rijkstuinen, other iconic locations such as the IJ, the NDSM wharf and the Prinsengracht also provide inspiration for her work.
Art Space by Contrast
Spoor chose to exhibit her new series in the Art Space of Contrast because of its unique location. Contrast is located on an old freighter at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord. It has a gallery on the lower deck and a high-quality culinary restaurant on the upper deck, allowing people to enjoy art and gastronomy. This location on the IJ offers a beautiful view of the entire city. Spoor created one of her artworks from the new series of the Deck of Contrast.
