There is not a day without Bach during Bach Week. After the success of the 2022 Bach Week, the Luther Museum is organizing another fantastic Bach Week under the creative leadership of violinist Diet Tilanus. Become part of the performance and enjoy the beautiful sounds of Bach!

Luther and Bach

Luther and Bach are two people who have had a decisive influence on the world. Martin Luther was a church reformer who wrote his theses against indulgences, and Johann Sebastian Bach was a composer of music at a level hitherto unparalleled. Few people know that JS Bach cannot be imagined without Luther. Luther profoundly influenced Bach in his thinking and composition. There are a limited number of tickets per concert, so be quick!

Monday, April 8: Bach & Luther / 20:00

Lydia Vroegindewij (speaker) and Paula Bär-Giese (soprano) will sing and talk to you about Bach and Luther's relationship. It will be a high-quality and substantive evening.

Wednesday, April 10: Sara's Mysteries (6+) / 15:00

Sara de Monchy (from the children's podcast Sara's Mysteries) unravels the mysteries of Bach's life. An education program for children. Musicians from Amsterdam Sinfonietta give the afternoon extra sparkle

Thursday, April 11: Goldberg horizontal / 20:00 / Sold out

Laurens de Man, the Dutch Music Prize winner, plays Bach's Goldberg Variations, and you can listen to them while lying down.

Friday, April 12: Bach and Sons Introduction and Concert/ 19:00 / Sold out

Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam, a choir with talented children and young people, sings a program about Bach and his sons. It is preceded by an introduction by Govert Jan Bach about Bach and Luther as family people.

Saturday, April 13: Dreams & Prayers / 17:00

Members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Amsterdam Sinfonietta:

Diet Tilanus, Jae-won Lee (violin), Frederik Boits (viola), Örs Köszeghy (cello) and Olivier Patey (clarinet)

Sunday, April 14: Bach Battle / 12:00

Have you always wanted to judge? The Bach Battle is a singing competition based on Phoebus and Pan. The audience is the jury!
