Moth in Mokum

The Mot butterfly garden in Mokum on Buikslotermeerplein was evacuated on 13 July 2024. She had to make way for a building. Many of the resident butterflies could not move: their entire lives took place in this garden. That is why the butterfly garden has given them a fictional and theatrical opportunity to switch to the Onheemtuin, a mobile butterfly garden. It is a kind of moving van for an ecosystem that has no place in the city.

The Displacement Garden has now been displaced and will be adrift through Amsterdam. This is to make it clear that Amsterdam's nature has been displaced. They will incorporate nature back into culture with a cultural and green program around this mobile reserve. There is hope.
