About the desire for perfect purity
Pygmalion is about impossible desire. To be precise, a desire for perfection that is deeply ingrained in Western culture and continues to haunt us today. Our conscience must be pure, our loved ones divine, our six-packs made of marble. Starting from the myth of a sculptor who falls madly in love with a statue he made himself, theater maker David Roos investigates his own desire for perfect purity.
During his residency at Frascati in January 2024, David made a start on Pygmalion , and the now fully developed performance will now premiere.
