Freaky circus company
An explosive performance about a freaky circus company that clashes with each other, but also cannot do without each other. The show must go on! In the mysterious Hiphop Circus (12+) you enter the spectacular world of a traveling freaky circus company. At first glance, the artists form a large, harmonious, blended family. They share joys and sorrows, eat together and practice their acts. Away from the clichéd glitter and glamour of the stage, a dark atmosphere prevails backstage and the true nature of the derailed artists comes to the surface. There is discontent, arguments take place and too much drinking. But in the end they agree on one thing: they need each other... the show must go on!
Explosive show
In this energetic performance, choreographer Marco Gerris combines breaking and urban sports with circus disciplines. A group of performers consisting of parkour artists, a hip-hop dancer, a B-boy, a pole artist and acrobats explore the limits of their abilities. They challenge each other time and time again and search for a new balance. In this explosive show, performers clash with each other and then merge back into one. DeeJay Irie plays live on stage. To his beats and soundscapes, breakers and acrobats show the most unimaginable combinations of movements and disciplines. During this overwhelming spectacle, you will be amazed and ask yourself: is it an act or have I ended up in a dream world?
Choreographer Marco Gerris
Choreographer, artistic director and founder Marco Gerris has been successfully finding his way off the beaten track for twenty-five years. Inspired by street culture, he brings hip-hop dance and urban sports to the theatre together with dancers and performers. ISH challenges the boundaries of dance by using elements that you would not immediately label as dance. Freedom of movement arises when you let go of the frameworks: the connecting power of an open mind.
