A theatrical encounter between artists from the same community

The starting point is The Seagull (1896) by Anton Chekhov, one of the greatest and most tender theatre texts in literary history about a searching youth with new ideas and an older generation that feels threatened by them.

The performance [seagull] aims primarily to be an encounter with the Flemish deaf community, a collaboration of artists with different backgrounds. Professional actors and amateur actors with Flemish Sign Language as their mother tongue. A theatrical encounter between artists from the same community, living close to each other but still separated by a language barrier.
