DESERT PHOSfate by Sahrawi artist Mohamed Sleiman Labat explores the ecological and social impacts of phosphate mining through the lens of indigenous narratives. The film weaves together narratives of land, human and mineral displacement, and the impact of colonial extraction on indigenous knowledge and environmental justice. The screening will be followed by a digital conversation with the artist on the themes and backgrounds of the work. The screening is part of the Raw Earth Agriculture workshop, which discusses critical perspectives on industrial agriculture and the hidden chains of food supply in Europe.
