Taranto Aleatoria - María Del Mar Suárez, La Chachi

Two women eat sunflower seeds in a park, in a doorway and in a courtyard. They share a common space, a conversation, the intimacy of silence. The cante (song) and baile (dance) suddenly erupt and transform the everyday scene into a magically intimate spectacle.

Taranto

A Taranto is a palo (form) of flamenco, originally from the mining area of Almería. It is a primitive song, simple, dry, without a guitar, born from the need to sing independently. In Taranto Aleatoria (Random Taranto), choreographer and dancer María del Mar Suárez/LaChachi and singer Lola Dolores begin their personal view of the rawness of this palo. By taking a random approach, the dancer and singer embrace irreverent gestures and create humour.

La Chachi

La Chachi has earned its place in the tradition of breaking down and revaluing flamenco, in the wake of other outsiders such as El Niño de Elche, Israel Galván and Rocío Molina. She is an actress and dancer and graduated in both disciplines in Malaga, her hometown. After specializing in flamenco at “ La Lupi ”, and training in physical theatre, new dramaturgy and contemporary dance, she discovered her true passion: the union of all these disciplines.
