The myth of Carmen and Romani feminism
Images of Romani women
Lawyer and feminist Pastora Filigrana will speak about images of Romani women in Carmen and Romani feminism.
Throughout history, Romani women have been faced with stereotypical cultural expressions and anti-Roma laws. The story of Carmen is a famous example of that discourse. Lawyer Pastora Filigrana will delve into this history, but also speak about the current Romani feminism that tries to subvert the race and gender stereotypes around which the image of the Romani woman is built.
As part of this program the film Carmen Troubles will be screened in De Balie film hall.
