Tuindorp Oostzaan
Tuindorp Oostzaan is one of the garden villages that were developed in Amsterdam between the First and Second World Wars to provide a counterbalance to the impoverished working-class neighborhoods in the city center. Moreover, they wanted to house the growing group of workers from the new industries and shipbuilding on the north banks of the IJ close to their work, to prevent the need for an expensive river connection between the city center and Amsterdam-Noord.
