Carbon Equity raises €10M with launch of new Climate Infrastructure Fund
New funding for energy transition projects
Amsterdam-based Carbon Equity, a climate-focused venture capital and private equity investment platform has introduced its new Climate Infrastructure Fund I, raising €10 million in its first close. The fund unlocks private capital to solve the world’s biggest climate challenges, targeting infrastructure projects like hydrogen production, biogas facilities, solar parks, EV charging stations, and sustainable energy systems.
This move is part of Carbon Equity’s strategy to make climate-focused investments more accessible, with a minimum investment of €100,000. The fund aims to grow to €50 million and will invest in 3 to 5 infrastructure funds, providing access to 40 to 50 energy transition projects across the EU.
The announcement follows the recent "strong first close" of its Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III, which raised €60M a few months ago.
Co-founder and CEO Jacqueline van den Ende emphasised the importance of diversifying investor portfolios while tackling climate challenges, complementing Carbon Equity's existing focus on climate innovation.
Amsterdam is growing a vibrant climate tech scene
Amsterdam has an expanding network of climate tech companies and startups, reinforcing the city's position as a leader in climate innovation. Key players already boosting Amsterdam’s climate tech scene include promising startups like CuspAI, using AI to identify CO2-binding materials, and Watermeln, which combines hydrogen and battery technology to replace diesel generators. These efforts highlight the Dutch capital’s commitment to advancing climate tech and energy solutions.
As Amsterdam continues to establish itself as a hub for impactful climate investments, with multiple exciting tech companies to watch out for, Carbon Equity is at the forefront of funding innovation while addressing global environmental challenges.
