Requiem for Justice - Kayhan Kalhor + Erdal Erzincan

What Kayhan Karlor does with the kamancheh, the Persian violin, Erdal Erzincan does with the bağlama, the Turkish lute: both are absolute greats on their age-old instruments, but also deviate from their traditions. Singing is often central to the music of both Persia and Anatolia. Instead, these modern masters focus on the pure beauty of their string playing.

Three award-winning musicians from the Arab diaspora celebrate Palestinian music. Palestinian-American UD player Simon Shaheen has arranged both classical and folk pieces that can sound moody but often also uplifting. He is assisted by violinist Layth Sadiq, artistic director of the New York Arabic Orchestra, and Palestinian percussionist Tareq Rantisi. Tamara Alrifai, Director of External Relations and Communications at UNRWA, commented on the concert.

Thanks to the efforts of the organization Waste to Harvest and hundreds of volunteers, fifteen community gardens have already saved more than 25,000 kilos of vegetable and fruit waste from the trash this year. This result will be celebrated on September 28 during the Waste to Harvest Festival. Eleven new collection points will also open where Amsterdam residents can register to hand in their organic waste.
