SHEBANG, an art lab in Amstel III (future Bijlmer-West), launches Issue 5 in line with Amsterdam 750: 'A New Map'. Under the guidance of guest curator Charl Landvreugd, alternative future narratives will be explored and shared with the public. During three events in January, February, and March 2025, artists and collectives will present their contributions to the evolving Tembe installation inspired by the nine districts of Amsterdam. SHEBANG provides a platform for interdisciplinary creators to shape the city of the future collectively.

Open Monument Day

On 13 and 14 September 2025, various monuments in Amsterdam will open their doors for free for Open Monument Day. Discover 'The  Architectural heritage during the 39th edition. Also explore hidden places above ground, such as clandestine churches, and listen to stories of squatters and graffiti artists.

Tulp Festival

The 11th edition of the annual Tulip Festival will pay tribute to Amsterdam 750 in April 2025. They will be in public spaces along streets, on bridges and squares, in flower beds and parks, shopping centres and (neighbourhood) gardens. In April, Tulip Festival will make the city bloom and this photogenic harbinger of spring can be beautifully immortalised.

Opening Concert - Amsterdam 750

On 27 October, Dutch musicians and the Metropole Orchestra will start the year-long anniversary of Amsterdam 750 with the Opening Concert in the Ziggo Dome. This one-off spectacle promises a musical journey through the rich history of Amsterdam, from classics to contemporary hits. A lively celebration you won't want to miss!

Ginger Tea Sessions with Kelechi Okafor and Simone Zeefuik

This English-language lecture with Kelechi Okafor and Simone Zeefuik can be seen in Bijlmer Parktheater. While enjoying a delicious ginger tea courtesy of poetry and cocktail bar Labyrinth, Kelechi, our program maker Simone Zeefuik, and the audience will discuss Edge of Here, her debut collection of short stories.

Nellestein is part of the Gaasperdam district in Amsterdam-Southeast and borders the Gaasperplas.

Annie Romeinplein

The Annie Romeinplein is a square in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The square was named on May 13, 1997; per council decision of the South East District it was named after writer Annie Romein-Verschoor. The square is sandwiched between the Geldershoofd and Gravestein flats on the north side and the Bijlmerdreef on the south side.
