These days of Remembrance & Celebration, respectively on 4 and 5 May and also on 15, 16 and 17 August, will be organized by the Nusantara foundation. The basis of these activities and events is the colonial & slavery past, which was accompanied by colonial wars and has its repercussions in the so-called world wars in the 20th century.
On May 4, the Nusantara foundation commemorates the victims of these wars on the square of the same name and around the monument of Anton de Kom, with the common thread being drawn in the connection with victims in the colonial period, worldwide and Kingdom wide. On May 5, they celebrate freedom in Bijlmer Parktheater, where the common thread is drawn with the struggle for freedom of enslaved people, the global end of World War II and the struggle for liberation and end of colonization of present-day Indonesia.
